One of his friends looks up to the sky to see if they are about to be bombed. They keep on walking. Sometimes random acts of kindness are a matter of life and death.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-middle-east-37568322\" target=\"_blank\">BBC video interviews Ahmad<\/a> as he speaks of a friend who did not survive.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ahmad remembers the kindness they shared in a world that is falling apart as \u2018we\u2019 in the West sit on the sidelines, do nothing and (mostly) look for someone to blame as we profit from the war.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The video puts at 106 the number of children who have died in Syria in September; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iamsyria.org\/death-tolls.html\" target=\"_blank\">some accounts<\/a> put at 50,000 the number of dead children since the start of the conflict.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As Ahmad remembers \u00a0that pencil and notebook, journalists ask:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/world\/syria-crisis-continues-1.3718279\" target=\"_blank\">Where is the outrage?<\/a>\u00a0I feel the helplessness.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Just some reflections for <a href=\"http:\/\/daily.ds106.us\/tdc1736\/\" target=\"_blank\">the Daily Create<\/a> today.
