The daily create asked for DS106 index additions to a medieval text on rats…well, yes. It is the daily create, after all.
I felt like doing a little more than edit a .psd file so I went googling for ideas. I thought: there must be somethings that bring together DS106 and Rats….
I discovered something delightful.
It turns out that Lisa had made an amazing gif with a painting that came much later than medieval times. Never mind history. Sorry, Lisa. I loved the gif and also appreciated the hard work that had gone into making it ( I remember the frustrations when I started making gifs…there must be an easier way to do this).
Lisa tells us that the rat after 1750’s was not a evil as the black rat that came before it. For some sound educational reason she wanted to add a rat to the painting and ask her students: Is he a troublemaker?
So, I could not resist remixing her lovely gif. Who knows? It may be of use to her still…

Finally, I spent some delightful time at the Internet Archive searching for items for the index – I used Lisa’s painting as background to add the entries, making my own index with mysterious rat topics.

Oh, this is great! The technology is so much easier now and, of course, Posterous is long gone. Good to see the little guy come to life at last.
